Did somebody say strike?

Monday, November 5th, 2007

It is only through the will of the few that the many can prosper.
– Wally the Dancing Hippopotamus, co-author of the historic 1985 Mascot Act and founder of the Union of Novelty Costumed Performers

Division 18 supports the WGA writers strike

Division 18 of the Union of Novelty Costumed Performers would like to lend its support to the Writer’s Guild of America during this trying time. Any scabs we see scribbling in their notebooks get their fingers broke. We’ll make due watchin’ reruns, till yooz guys work it out.

What would Josh draw?

Friend of the Union Josh Adams has a new blog up at his site WhatWouldJoshDo.com featuring pin-up work he’s done for the second issue of a certain comic about novelty costumed performers. Our girl Mimi has never looked better!

Our first review!

Monday, November 5th, 2007

You can read the whole thing here…

Division 18 es un cómic de Matt Bergin, con dibujos de Jeremy Donelson, que juega con un ácido humor y violencia sin sentido. Realmente, el simple hecho de verlos salir a la calle es ya un espectáculo en si mismo.

The secret to a successful signing…

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

The Magnum Comics signing was a proportionally huge success. The Bronx shop specialing in “Big 2″ superhero books and Halloween costumes sold out of our goofy little black-and-white indie book!*

Not to diminish the worth of the debut issue of Division 18 or my own marquee value as a comic icon in the making, but I’m willing to bet it didn’t hurt our sales having my one-month-old baby in my arms the whole time. Take note, creators — cute kids sell comics!**

My babies, Alexa Sky and Division 18 #1, at Magnum Comics

*And that’s with my mother buying only ONE copy!

**Also, hot wives. I have one of those too, and she was there as well.

Division 18 makes reviewer “chuckle”… but still kinda sucks

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Our first review was en espanol, and — according to Google’s tranlator-tron 3000 — positive. We think.

Our second review? Not so much.

And now a dance lesson for scabs from our friend Snake

New review: Division 18 #1 = remarkably well-done drivel!

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

The Union has a fan in Broken Frontier’s Dave Baxter! While I genuinely appreciate (and agree with) his assessment of my writing as remarkably well-done cliché drivel, my favorite part of the review is when Baxter compares Jeremy’s artwork to “a porpoise freshly freed from an oil slick.” I’ve always compared Jeremy’s work to a tortoise trapped in a fishing net, but Baxter’s on the right track.
